To continuously be productive without a system in place. Or is it? Well, it turns out you can dramatically increase your productivity by implementing three productivity secrets into your life.
In this three-part series, I’m going to show you my Top 3 Productivity Secrets and hopefully they'll help you the same way they help me.
GO TO SLEEP AND WAKE UP AT THE SAME TIME EVERY DAY
This is still a work in process for me. Your circadian rhythms regulate your mood and your energy levels throughout the day. Basically, when you don’t get enough sleep, you start to make mistakes because your brain can’t function properly, this is why on motorways you often see signs saying ‘tiredness can kill.” Sleep is the foundation and one of the main building blocks of your life.
YOU SPEND A THIRD OF YOUR LIFE SLEEPING
You will spend a little more than 33% of your life sleeping, that’s a third of your entire life asleep so you might as well do it right! That doesn’t mean you should spend X hours a day sleeping as everyone is different. Some will be fine on 6 hours of sleep while others will need to sleep approximately 8 or 10 hours.
Although it’s recommended we sleep approximately 8 hours a day, the needed amount of sleep will vary from person to person. Listen to your body, only you will be able to figure out what works best for you and when you’re at your very best. The truth is our days are numbered and unpredictable so don’t intentionally waste any of yours.
THE SIDE EFFECTS OF SLEEP
Sleep has some added side effects, such as cleaning out the toxins that build up in your brain during the day. Processing and responding to emotions and even learning. Restorative processes such as regulation of appetite control, metabolic functions, and the immune system all happen when you’re asleep.
This all depends heavily on the quality of your sleep, not just the quantity of sleep, you are more likely to feel refreshed and work better if you haven’t been interrupted during your sleep.
WHY NOT GIVE IT A TRY?
Actionable Step: Pick a time to wake up and a time to go to sleep every day and stick to it for 30 days. You should find yourself more alert, more focused and with a lot more energy! So give it a go and let us know the results in the comments below!
