I think you will agree with me when I say, it’s really hard to continuously be productive without a system in place. Or is it? Well, it turns out you can dramatically increase your productivity by implementing these three productivity secrets into your life.
In this three-part series. I’m going to show you my Top 3 Productivity Secrets and hopefully they'll help you the same way they help me.
1. LISTEN TO THE SAME PLAYLIST OF 10 SONGS ON REPEAT.
Hear me out! It’s not as bad as it seems. It may sound a little bit crazy to you, but if you combine this advice with the benefits of listening to classical music or even an audio track of white noise, it improves your ability to reason and gather your thoughts.
A 2012 French study showed that listening to classical music had an increase in overall cognitive performance in both memory and the ability to concentrate which is pretty impressive. A number of other studies have also found that distracting sounds have a negative impact on cognitive performance.
WHY CAN'T I LISTEN TO THE TOP POP 100 INSTEAD?
By listening to the same song or small selection of songs on repeat your mind is trained to remove those sounds from your conscious. As your mind knows what's coming, it’s easier for your mind to process the tasks you are actually carrying out.
The reason you can't listen to a random playlist full of pop music is because it is the predictability that helps you focus. In my experience, the mixed playlist is not as effective. Your mind is constantly faced with distractions every day. It’s your job to attempt to remove these distractions from your life to improve your focus.
When the feeling of time stops, your productivity may increase because you simply stop overthinking. If you ask me, overthinking has been and continues to be a paralysing factor in every new project, task or deadline.
When you stop overthinking and worrying about the task at hand because your mind is focused on that predictable playlist, you can finally focus on the job at hand. Work isn’t always fun and games, life has its highs and lows but this secret lets you cut away the fat, and get straight to the point of the work needed to be completed at hand.
